An American woman who worked as an information technology support specialist at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has lost a job over her Facebook comments about child education.
The woman, who has not been named, told the Associated Press she was fired for sharing “grossly offensive” material about child welfare programs on her Facebook page in April.
The post included a photo of a woman with a red face, a caption saying “it makes me sick,” and the phrase “fucking children.”
“I feel like my entire career was ruined,” she told the AP.
She added: “I was the one that was the most vocal on social media about it.”
The woman also said she was a victim of “white privilege” because she worked in the technology field and has a background in child development.
Her post about the agency, which was later deleted, drew widespread criticism, including a petition asking the Department of Labor to investigate her dismissal.
She did not respond to a request for comment.
